Youth Saturday Night Open Adult Leaders
Saturday nights are a time where we intentionally create a fun and unintimidating environment for our Jr. and Sr. High students to bring their friends. This program is purposely designed to not merely entertain our own students, but to give them a perfect opportunity to build relationships and invite their friends. It takes place in the Youth Center from 6:45-8.
One of the key aspects into making Saturday Night Open a success is adult involvement. Students are craving connections with loving and caring adults. They aren’t looking for older versions of themselves, they are looking for adults who care about them and love them for who they are.
Adults involved in Saturday Night Open should be interested in building relationships with students. This means creating new relationships with students, building relationships already in place and being involved with students during the hang out times and the worship times also.
These would be your Main Responsibilities
1. Love students and build relationships! That’s our number one job. No matter who they are or what we might know about their st, our main priority is to love them and help them feel safe and loved.
2. Love students and build relationships! Hopefully you’re getting the idea. It really is that important.
3. Help out wherever needed. Though a lot of your time would be spent hanging out with students, there will be times when you may have an assigned job such as helping with a snack bar, etc.
Relationships, Relationships, Relationships
Other than the occasional task, most of the ministry done within Saturday Night Open is unstructured and relationally based. Adults are asked to hang out, interact with and invest in students. I realize how intimidating this can be, but jump in the boat and reach out to them.
Even though they may not immediately warm up to you (though some will), they will appreciate your interest in them. After a couple weeks of them seeing you try to build a connection with them, pretty much all students will begin reaching back to you and build a relationship.
Thank you so much for your time, and possible commitment and investment! Adult Leaders extremely important to this ministry and to the spiritual growth of our students. I hope you realize how big of a difference that caring adult leaders make.
If you are interested in getting involved, please let me know. Even if you want to hang out one night to get a feel for things and then decide, that would be great. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me.
We do what we do in order to help students become everything that God wants them to be. We can’t do what we do without you! THANK YOU!
