THIRD Saturdays
THIRD Saturdays is a great way for people of any age to engage in service in our community! Every third Saturday, CATC sends a group of people to three of our local partners to serve. We have three different ways to serve so that people of any age can get involved in caring for their community!
Wheeler Mission: Adults are encouraged to join in our monthly meal preparation and serving to the men of the Wheeler Missions Men’s Shelter. You will arrive at 9:30 a.m. at the Wheeler Missions Men’s Shelter and help prepare the meal, set up the dining room, and then serve and socialize with the men of the shelter. This has been a long term partnership with Wheeler and CATC and we happy to join in serving in this way!
Shepherd Community Center: Through a partnership with CICOA, Shepherd delivers bags of food to shut-ins in their community. This is a way for them to reach out and share the hope of Christ with those that are not able to make it to their facility. Families or groups are welcome to participate in this together by arriving at Shepherd at 10 a.m. and picking up a Mapquest with homes for deliveries and bags of food. In your vehicle you drive to each of the locations and deliver the food, offering a word of encouragement and meeting a physical need. Most groups can be done by noon.
Nora Elementary Saturday School: Working with Mrs. Mileva, an ESL teacher at Nora Elementary, people from CATC join with Burmese refugee students looking for English enrichment. These students, usually in 4th or 5th grade are some of those most in need of help with English. This is a great opportunity for families to introduce their kids to serving by engaging with people of other cultures.
